Students and members of the Filipino community of San Francisco celebrated the 10th anniversary of SF State’s Filipino Community mural on Tuesday, April 2 at Jack Adams Hall. About 100 people took part in the celebration which consisted of food, music and dance performances. Guest speakers from the Filipino community shared their knowledge of the mural and its significance to them.

The Seattle-based music group Blue Scholars, made up of MC Geologic and DJ and music producer Sabzi, returned to San Francisco for their “Town All Day” tour on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at The Fillmore. The Blue Scholars brought along fellow Seattle hip-hop groups to the show, including The Physics and Brothers From Another.

SF State’s Friendship Game’s team participated in the 27th Annual Friendship Games hosted by CSU Fullerton Oct. 27. Friendship Games, a yearly event where students — most of them part of Filipino American organizations — from around 50 or more colleges, including UCs, CSUs and some out-of-state colleges, gathered at CSU Fullerton to compete in picnic-like games.

It was the last in a string of Bay Area performances for Qudus, who recently moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music. 's Filipino Heritage Studies students shared their history and untold stories of struggle through the "Transcendence" stage show Wednesday night. The highly anticipated show has quickly become part of the legacy of Filipino Heritage Studies, an ethnic studies class taught by teacher Ivan Viray Santos at Logan—the only high school in the nation with an ethnic studies department, according to school staff.
